Description
Gilbert, son of Henry of Leith, has given, granted and by his charter established to Newbattle Abbey a certain part of his land in the villa of Leith (MLO), that is, the part which lies in the west between the land of the monks which they hold of the nuns of North Berwick, and his land from the east, as shown by the stone placed by the marches, to hold in pure and perpetual alms rendering annually to the House of Torphichen one pound of pepper at the feast of the Annunciation of BVM in March, at Torphichen, for all aid and secular service, exactions and demands. Gilbert warrants the land in perpetuity.
