Document 1/53/55 (RRS, v, no. 49)

Description
Robert, king of Scots, notes that the abbot and convent of Arbroath, in front of him and his council, exhibited certain charters and instruments from his predecessor kings of Scots confirming the lands of 'Dofnaldston' (Abbeyton), Drumsleed, 'Culbak', Monboddo, and Glenfarquhar, 'Fasdauach', half of Tipperty, and two parts of Kinkell and Pittengardner (all KCD) and certain agreements between the religious men and Alexander late earl of Buchan. He declares and grants that the earl and his heirs were in default of the agreements and that the abbot and religious men may recognosce the aforesaid lands and that they may hold and possess the rights and properties free and quit, as their predecessors held them. He commands his justiciars, sheriffs and their baillies to maintain and defend them in this.
