Description
Robert, king of Scots, to his grieves and baillies of the burgh of Rutherglen (LAN), notes that in the time of lord Alexander of good memory king of Scotland his predecessor and of his other predecessors the kings of Scots, the church of Glasgow and the successors of blessed Kentigern were wont to receive annually 40s from the burgh ferme of Rutherglen to maintain the lights in the said church, and 100s to maintain one chaplain celebrating the divine service there, and 6 marks to support one deacon and one subdeacon in the said church perpetually ministering. He commands and instructs these payments to be made.
