Robert, king of Scots, has given his beloved and faithful Alan of Liddel for his homage and service half of the land of Gilbert Lindsay knight in the villa and tenement of Skirling (PEB), holding in feu and heritage, making forinsec service pertaining to the service of the tenth part of one knight in the king's army, and suit of his court at Peebles at one chief pleas per year.
