Description
Robert, king of Scots, to the sheriff and his baillies of Forfar, commanding and firmly instructing them to conduct a diligent and faithful inquest by worthy and faithful men of the country to determine whether the religious men the abbot and convent of Arbroath abbey were infefted by concession and confirmation of the late Alexander, earl of Buchan, of an annual rent of 13s. 4d. from the tenement of Finavon (ANG) within the bailliary of the sheriff of Forfar in free pure and perpetual alms, as fully as the Earl Fergus grandfather of the said Alexander previously infefted them; and if the said religious were in full possession of this rent in the time of his predecessors the kings of Scotland; and if the annual rent has been unjustly detained from them.
