Description
Robert, king of Scots, has [given] his beloved and faithful Robert of Keith knight the following lands, which Robert held in chief of the king and which he resigned by staff and baton on the Wednesday after the Feast of All Saints in the 19th year of his reign (7 Nov. 1324), in full council at Berwick upon Tweed in front of his magnates, namely, the lands of Keith-Marischal with the office of marischal of his realm, Keith-Simon (ELO), Covington (LAN), Aden in Buchan with the new forest (ABD), 'Inuerpefrie' with four davochs of land in Strathbogie and the forest of Kintore (ABD), holding by Robert and Robert son of the late John of Keith knight son of the aforesaid Robert of Keith, and the male heirs of his body of the aforesaid Robert son of John of Keith, legitimately born with the surname of Keith and bearing arms. And if there are no legitimate male heirs of Robert son of John, Edward of Keith knight, brother of the aforesaid Robert the knight, and the male heirs of his body; and failing legitimate male heirs of his body, to the nearest male heirs of Robert of Keith knight of the surname and bearing arms, in feu and heritage in perpetuity, making service owed and wont.
