Description
Robert, king of Scots, informs that in his full parliament held at Scone on the feast of St James the Apostle (25 July) and continuing on the following days, AD 1323, Robert abbot of Dunfermline for himself and his convent made an agreement with David of Hastings over the lands of Moulin, and 'Petdufdy', 'Petmaldoic', 'Balcone', 'Petmacdufgylle' (PER) which the said David [David of Strathbogie, earl of Atholl] exhibited in the presence of himself and his council, quoted here in full [see Dunf. Reg., no. 150 (H3/274/3)]. And because the aforesaid David of Hastings [sic, for David of Strathbogie, earl of Atholl] acting against the king's faith forfeited in his parliament held at Cambuskenneth by the consent of all the clerics and the people the aforesaid lands, and the abbot entered the said lands on the basis that the aforesaid agreement was defunct and that it was held by right of recognition. Considering therefore the petition of the said abbot and his intention understood by responsible and faithful men, and inquest was made by which the king ascertains that the said lands due to the aforenoted are devolved and forever applied to the right and property of the said abbot and convent.
