Description
Robert, king of Scots, has inspected and truly understood the inquest made by his mandate in front of his sheriff of Roxburgh by responsible and faithful men of the same sheriffdom over the liberties, customs and services of the lord of Sprouston (ROX) and returned to his chapel, quoted in full. [Inquest made at Roxburgh on the Saturday after the feast of St Peter in Chains (2 Aug.) in the year of grace 1320 into the royal liberties by which the lord de Vescy held Sprouston in the time of Alexander III.] King Robert gives the whole tenement of Sprouston to his son Robert Bruce and the legitimate heirs of his body with all the liberties upheld in the inquest.
