David de Haya as witness × succession of Saer to earldom of Winchester. David de Haya first appears in royal charters in the early 1190s (see <em>RRS</em> ii, nos. 302, 347, 375, 383, 391) Saer de Quincy appears as early as the late 1160s in a royal charter to Coupar (<em>RRS</em> ii, no. 10), when he must have been very young still, but does not appear with more frequency until the late 1180s (<em>RRS</em> ii, no. 273).
