Alan of Richmond, master (fl.1189-1214×33)

Biography
Watt, Graduates, 469: Master Alan was a member of the familia of Durham Priory during the time of Bertram (1189-1212), and appears in Scotland as a clerk of Durham, usually witnessing in a St Andrews context. Alan's surname indicates that he came from Richmond, North Riding, Yorkshire. He appears on record from March 1199 and also held the church of Edrom (BWK) from 1198×1202. He still held the church during the time of Prior 'R.' of Durham, that is, probably 1214×33.
