Ralph, abbot of Melrose (d.1219)

Biography
Watt and Shead, Heads, 150: Ralph was cellarer of Melrose when he was elected abbot on 14 September 1216; blessed by bishop of Dunkeld (in absence of bishop of Glasgow) at Melrose on 29 Sep. 1216 (Chron. Melr., 63). He died on 1 Jun. 1219 (ibid., 71). Ralph was one of the abbots who successfully appealed against the prohibition of Cistercian monks in Scotland celebrating divine offices in 1218.
