Description
Robert, king of Scots, has inspected and with competent deliberation has truly understood the charter of King Malcolm IV made for the monastery of the Holy Trinity and St Michael the Archangel at Scone, finding it neither erased, cancelled or in any way damaged, quoting it verbatim. [see RRS, i, no. 243; 1/5/102] King Robert ratifies, approves and confirms the substance of King Malcolm's charter, for the salvation of his soul and that of his ancestors and successors, in pure and perpetual alms, saving the defence of his realm, except the clause regarding pelts of sheep and lambs [...] and the clause of a tenth of the provender of malt (?) and cain of ??? and cheese of the four manors of Gowrie, namely Scone, Coupar Angus, Longforgan and Strathardle ...
