Description
David, king of Scots, has inspected and with competent deliberation truly understood a charter which King Alexander II made to Arbroath abbey over a certain annual rent of 10 marks to augment the lighting of their church, due on Pentecost from the rents of Monifieth (ANG) by the hand of the sheriff of Forfar, finding it neither erased, cancelled nor damaged, quoted in full [RRS, iii, no. 314; H1/7/322; dated 16 Dec. 1246 at Cupar in Fife].
