Description: David, king of Scots, has given his beloved and faithful William of Abernethy knight for his faithful and laudable service, all the lands of Rothiemay in the sheriffdom of Banff (BNF), due to its forfeiture by the late David of Strathbogie knight, his enemy; to be held in feu and heritage and in one free barony with pit and gallows, sake and soke, toll and team and infangenthef, with homages and services of freeholders with bondi and bondages and their offspring, performing three suits of court at the sheriffdom court of Banff at the three chief pleas held yearly, for one pair of gilded spurs on Pentecost if requested. He has also granted that William may hold it in free warren forever. He prohibits anyone from hunting or fowling without special licence on pain of full forfeiture.
