Description
David, king of Scots, to venerable father in Christ Patrick, bishop of Brechin, his chancellor of Scotland, noting that he understands truly through the charters and old evidence that William, usher of his chapel, son and heir of Alexander of the Chapel by right and custom ought to receive a certain feu in his chapel which his ancestors received, and because of war and other reasons as the king understands the charters or letters which he had of the said feu were destroyed, he wills that the said feu be confirmed to William by the king's charter. First, William should have by the new charter of infeftment one half mark, of confirmation in major form a half mark, of confirmation in minor form 40d., of a letter of rancour of remission, of presentation to the church, of warenne, of another letter of necessity, 2s., of a letter patent 3d and of a letter close 1d.. The payments should be made from whichever sheriffdom 2s., from whichever bailliary 12d, from whichever customar 12s, and from the king's chamber for his garments 40s. He commands and instructs that a charter be made under his great seal for the above feu.
