Notes
This is an alternative confirmation charter to Arbroath Abbey to that dated a few weeks earlier at Forfar, which survives only in one late cartulary copy. It is likely that Robert, bishop of Ross, a witness to this charter, was still bishop-elect at this point. The two Arbroath confirmations share similarities in to the witness list, such as the appearance of Bishop-elect Robert, Bishop Hugh of Brechin, and several other common witnesses to Alexander's charters, such as John Maxwell, John Murray, Thomas Durward and Walter Lindsey, as well as one unusual witness, William of Clunie. (Thomas 'Froster' is clearly a transcription error for 'Hostiar(ius)', i.e, doorward.)
