Document 2/64/23 (Arb. Lib., no. 249)
- Description
- Abbot W. and convent of Arbroath make known that they were bound to Sir William Mowat, son of Sir Michael Mowat, to find certain monks of their house or honest chaplains to serve chapel of St Laurence positioned in land of 'Konanmorcapil' (later Boath, Carmylie parish, ANG), for those lands which Sir William had given to Arbroath. If it should happen that abbey can no longer serve chapel or church, as noted by neighbours and faithful men, they wish and grant that bishop of St Andrews or his archdeacon permit their official or Sir William to compel them to serve church with an honest chaplain or monk. In addition, should land of 'Drummad' be put to their uses, abbey shall satisfy Sir William for that land.
