Description
Prior [Duncan] and convent of Whithorn make known that since their church is destitute of a pastor they wish to provide for church, they, with assent of king of Scotland, who possesses Galwegian rule, have chosen as pastor Sir O[do] Ydonc, a fellow canon, man of letters. The seat of cathedral of Whithorn being vacant, prior and convent entered into chapter on third Sunday of Lent, to discuss election of pastor [and], in presence of all who by right ought, wished, and were able to take part, convent elected three from their chapter, Sir Paul, Sir Brice and Sir Christian, fellow canons, who secretly and separately inquired into all votes. They agreed in favour of Odo, their canon; vowing and recording everything in scriptures, they entered into cathedral church of Whithorn and, in presence of everyone published document, conceded that Odo was head of cathedral
