Description
Pope Adrian IV writes to Ansketill of Ryedale, knight, noting his devotion to St Peter and to the pope himself, and takes his person and possessions which he holds justly and canonically or may acquire in future, especially those which Walter of Ryedale, his brother, bequeathed to him, namely the villas of Whittons and Lilliesleaf (ROX), and bestows the right to appeal to the apostolic see.
