- Description
- Pope Innocent IV writes to the bishops of St Andrews and Glasgow and the dean of Glasgow, noting that he has forbidden that no archbishop or bishop shall presume to exact or extort anything from the churches belonging to the abbot and convent of Dunfermline, which are established in their diocese, by reason of dedications or consecrations, except procurations, since ecclesiastical sacraments may be free from being conferred. But they may expend these and other ecclesiastical sacraments that may be held by them, when required from Dunfermline. He thus commands them not to permit anyone to bother the abbot and convent concerning this, compelling the molesters by papal authority without appeal.
