Document 2/140/16 (Dryb. Lib., no. 275)

Description
Pope Gregory IX writes to the bishops of St Andrews, Glasgow and Whithorn stating that no one shall presume to exact teinds from the abbot and convent of Dryburgh in respect of lands which they cultivate with their own hands or at their own expense, or ‘orts’, brushwood, fisheries or food for their animals. He further commands that the bishops are not permitted to go against this indulgence, especially concerning those teinds which they acquired both before and after the General Council, compelling those opponents through ecclesiastical censure without appeal.
