Document 2/143/161 (Glas. Reg., no. 198)

Description
Pope Innocent IV writes to the bishops of Brechin and Dunkeld, noting that he has granted to the bishop of Glasgow, concerning lands which are collated in alms to the church of Glasgow, that by no means may he be held to answer in a secular court. He thus commands them not to permit the bishop to be troubled by anyone concerning this, compelling the molesters by ecclesiastical censure without appeal. They may not be [placed under] interdict, suspended or excommunicated by letters of the same see which do not make express mention of this indult, word for word.
