Document 4/36/3 (ND, App., no. 211)

Description
The Knights, freeholders, and all the court of Coldinghamshire who owe suit give notice that Sibyl, daughter of Maurice of Ayton, before them in full court at Ayton, on 16 February 1246, has conceded that she is neither willing nor able to support or make the service owed for her land in upper Ayton. The prior and monks of Coldingham having requested judgment upon these things, the court has judged that the land ought to revert to the prior and monks of Coldingham; Sibyl has resigned and quitclaimed the land to the demesne of the feu. In testimony whereof, they have caused the seals of Sir William of Mordington, Sir William of Scremerston, Adam of Prenderguest, and Thomas of Nesbit, to be put to this document.
