Description
[Hugh], bishop of Dunkeld, T[homas de Melsonby], prior of Coldingham and R[alph Niger], dean of Lothian, recite letters of Pope Gregory IX, appointing them judges-delegate in the dispute between H., archdeacon of Glasgow and the bishop and certain other clerics and laymen of Glasgow diocese over infringements of the liberties and immunities of the archdeaconry. By the authority of this mandate, in the said case between Master Hugh of Potton, archdeacon of Glasgow, and Walter, bishop of Glasgow and Thomas, rector of the church of Morebattle, they have settled the dispute in the following form. The archdeacon, by the counsel of good men and common friends, shall pay 20 marks in the church of Moffat concerning the church of Morebattle, a prebend of the church of Glasgow, as well as £200 in expenses in the church of Dryfesdale. The bishop ordained that the archdeaconry of Glasgow shall have 30 marks for a fixed residence.
