Description
A friendly agreement is formed between the abbot and the convent of Arbroath and the abbot and convent of Balmerino, in a council at Dundee, whereby Arbroath Abbey demits at ferme the church of ‘Feuthmureve’ (Barry, ANG) for 40 marks annually, and shall answer to the bishop of St Andrews for all episcopal dues and all other burdens responsibility for episcopal dues; the chaplain who shall serve the church will have one oxgang of land in the territory assigned to him by the marches perambulated by Sir Jocelin of Ballindard and Sir Nicholas of Inverpeffer before the abbot of Arbroath and the prior, and other men. This agreement was made with the assent of both convents and before Sir W[illiam], bishop of St Andrews.
