- An inquest was made according to a mandate of the lord king of land of the late Simon of ‘Lede’ in the barony of […], namely Gilbert of Old Roxburgh, Hugh ‘Calarde of Ecum’ (?), Geoffrey of Heaviside, […] of Prenderguest, Thomas (?) de […], Gilbert of Maxwell, William of Haswell, Robert of Bedrule, John of Scarborough (?), G. of Heaviside […] Caverton […], that Sir Malcolm of Moray had a certain land in the villa of […] procured the cultivated land (?) […] Simon of ‘Lede’ had two oxgangs of land in the said villa hereditarily […] The said Sir Malcolm reckoned with Simon of ‘Lede’ the fermer […] 8 marks and 5s. which the said Malcolm paid; the said Simon surrendered to Sir Malcolm his land in […] said Sir Malcolm […] Walter Grey that when the said Simon had paid the 8 marks and 5s. [for?] his land […].
