Description
Robert of Berkeley and Cecilia his spouse and their heirs have given, and by their charter established to Melrose Abbey, for the souls of David and Malcolm kings of Scots, their lords, and for the soul of Earl Henry, and for the welfare of their lord William king of Scots and of David his brother, and others, one ploughgate of land in the territory of Maxton (ROX), by stated bounds, with common pasture for 100 sheep, 12 oxen, 6 cows and 3 horses and one hog, with their [either offspring or nourishment] for two years, in free, pure and perpetual alms, in perpetuity, saving the teinds of the church of St Cuthbert of Maxton.
