Description
John son of Eilif of Elliston, in his free power and by the consent and good will of his heirs, has given, granted and made firm by his present charter to Master Adam of Bathgate and his heirs that oxgang of land with one acre of meadow in the territory of Elliston (ROX) will all its easements and pertinents which William Pile of Bowden held at ferme from him, freely, quietly, peacefully and honourably from all service, custom, aid, exaction and demand. He is to return to John and his heirs, for all services, customs, aids, exactions and demands every year white gloves during the fair of Roxburgh or one penny. And John states that it is to be known that Master Adam of Bathgate for the concession and donation of the land, for the alleviation of his great poverty, gave to him four marks of silver.
