Description
Thomas of London has given and by this his charter established to the church of Lessudden (ROX) for the soul of his lord King David and for the soul of Margaret his wife, his tofts which he had on the south side of the church and half the ‘pomerium’ (space next to a wall) next to the church that was his, and the land and meadow on the west side of the church as far as the great road which goes toward Eildon and on the north side of the church, the land from the cemetery beyond a certain old ditch, as he gave and assigned them in the beginning, as far as the River Tweed, in free, pure and perpetual alms, so that the persona of the church may established an altar in honour of St Margaret the Virgin on the southern part of the same church, and every week a mass for the soul of his lord King David and for the soul of his wife Margaret and for the souls of all the faithful departed may be sung. With the attestation and counsel of ‘Henry’ (sic for Herbert), bishop of Glasgow.
