- John de Normanville gave, granted and by this his present charter established to Walran de Normanville, his brother, and Walran's heirs at feuferme one ploughgate of land in the territory of Maxton (ROX) with all its pertinents, with the toft and croft which belonged to Gamel son of Waltheof in the villa of Maxton, with common pasture and all the easements at the villa of Newton as at the villa of Maxton, freely, quietly and honourably from all service, custom, exaction and demand. Walran and his heirs are to return to him and his heirs annually one of the ‘tercellium’ hawks at the feast of Saint James or 3 shillings.
