- [William] of Fintry, burgess of Aberdeen, has given, granted and by this his present charter established to the Carmelite Friary of Aberdeen, an annual rent of 6d., with the grant of a rent of 3s. 6d. which his father Gilbert gave the same friars by a charter with his seal and the common seal of Aberdeen, for the acquittal of the rent for which they are held to the lord king for those lands which they have in the burgh of Aberdeen; the said rent of 4s. annually from that land which Alexander son of Hugh called ‘Crine’ held at feuferme from his said father, which lie in the burgh of Aberdeen on the street called ‘le Grene’, between the land of John, my son-in-law (sic, Gilbert’s son-in-law) and the land of Walter Belle. And if there is a relaxation of the said rent from the lord king, he wills that the rent of 4s should be converted to light the altar of the BVM, for the welfare of the souls of the said Gilbert his father, of his mother and of his successors.
