- Edward I addresses his beloved clerk, John of Sandall, chamberlain of Scotland, and orders that he should ensure that all alms are rendered to the abbot and convent of Dryburgh at the customary times, which are recorded in the charters [and] letters, open or closed, of the late kings of Scotland, [which are found] within the accounts of the late chamberlains of Scotland, or within any other evidence that John will be able to legitimately be piece together relating to the ferme of the king’s burgh, or the rest of Edward’s dominion of Scotland, from the grant of the late kings of Scotland. And the king will make sure to allocate the alms to John.
