Description
On the same day [17 June], in the same year [1296], indiction [9th], and place [Stirling]; with the same witnesses present as just aforementioned, and in the presence of the Notary undersigned; John of Lamberton attained the trust and goodwill of the the lord king of England; and he annulled any alliances, contracts, agreements, or pacts entered into with the king of the French against the king of England in his name, and entirely renounced them; and having touched and kissed the most holy gospels, he performed fealty to the king of England; and in respect of the fealty thus performed, he drew up letters patent sealed with his own authentic pendant seal.
