- Description
- At Forfar, on 4 July, in the year [1296] and indiction [9] recorded before, in the presence of the Notary and of the witnesses last written, Peter de Champagne, rector of the church of Kinkell, attained of his own free will to the trust and goodwill of the lord king of England; and he annulled any alliances etc. entered into in his name with the king of the French against the king of England; and having taken hold of and kissed the holy gospels, he performed fealty to the king of England; and made his letters patent upon his fealty so performed, sealed with his pendant seal.
