- Description
- In the year and Indiction recorded before, at the place named immediately above, there being present the noble lords, John Tregotz, Walter de Beauchamp, Thomas of Bicknor, and John Merk, knights, with many others as well knights as men of lower rank, the notary named below also being present; the lord John, called the Butler, and the lord Nicholas of Rutherford, knights, Ralph of Eglinton, with Thomas of Winchester, John of Elphinstone, Fergus, called Marshall, and Godfrey of Ardrossan, coming into the trust and obedience of the king of England, annulled the alliances, contracts, agreements, and pacts that were at any time entered into with the king of the French against the king of England in their name; and having taken the holy gospels and kissed them, they performed fealty to the lord king of England; and upon their fealty performed in this way, they made their letters patent, sealed with their pendant seals.
