- Description
- Fergus, abbot of Cambuskenneth, and the convent of the same place, state that the right of patronage of the church of Glenisla (ANG), with the lands and other rights belonging to the church, was conferred by William, king of Scots, upon the abbey of Cambuskenneth, and the canons thereof, in pure and perpetual alms from motives of charity, and that thereafter a yearly pension of ten pounds of sterling in that church was assigned to the abbey by the deceased Gregory, bishop of Brechin, the payment of which sum having been discontinued for several years due to the damage of the abbey. The abbot had, by the advice of common friends, and with the consent of John, then bishop of Brechin, with a view to the peace of his abbey, granted and completely provided to the Abbot and convent of Coupar Angus the patronage of the church of Glenisla, with the lands and other rights belonging to it, reserving to himself and his abbey the pension of ten pounds in the church, which was henceforth to be paid by the Abbot and convent of Coupar Angus to the abbot and convent of Cambuskenneth, and to be conveyed to them at the expense and risk of the former, within eight days after each term of payment, under the penalty of half a mark to be paid to the fabric of the church of Dunblane for each week during which payment was delayed.
