- Description
- The king writes to his treasurer and barons of the Exchequer noting that as John, earl of Atholl, has mainprised Alexander de Menzies, in prison in the Tower of London, and Malcolm of Kinross, in prison at Rochester, David le Mire, in prison at Leeds, and John Page, in prison at Tonbridge, they are to be released from those prisons.
The king to Ralph of Sandwich, constable of the Tower of London, because John, earl of Atholl, detained in the Tower of London, has found sufficient mainprise before Walter de Beauchamp, steward of the household, and will be on the king’s service in Flanders, he is to be released from prison.
The king to the constable of Northampton, because John of Menteith mainprised Thomas Campbell, captured at Dunbar, he is to be released from prison.
The same John mainprised Robert le Letham, detained in Nottingham castle.
The same John mainprised John Wiseman, captured [at Dunbar], and in Fotheringhay prison.
The same John of Menteith mainprised Robert of Cresswell, captured [at Dunbar] and detained at Hardelagh prison.
Edmund Comyn of Kilbride mainprised John of Clogston, at Kenilworth castle; Godfrey de Ros at Crukyn castle, and William Currie, at Nottingham castle.
The king to the constable of Windsor, Richard Siward has mainprised William of Kirkpatrick [sic Kilpatrick], captured at Dunbar, and he is to be released from prison.
The same Richard mainprised William Oliphant and Duncan Scott, captured [at Dunbar], and in Rochester castle; Michael Scott at Wallingford Castle, Richard of Pearsby, in Hardelak castle, and Richard Marischal in Montgomery castle.
