Description: Robert, king of Scots, has given Arbroath abbey land on the Ness in Berwick on Tweed, which belonged to Simon of Dirleton, his enemy and rebel against his faith and peace, who died in England, and by reason of his forfeiture, between the land of James Burnard on the north and the sea on the south, holding in free burgage and in free regality, in pure and perpetual alms. He also grants that the monks and their men dwelling on the land the freedom to buy, sell, and trade with the king's burgesses and merchants.
