This single-sided seal shows the earl on horseback to *sinister*, riding at full speed and wearing armour. He is holding a sword in his right hand; his shield is on his chest. Used in conjunction with the earl’s counterseal.

Notes
The dimensions of this seal are unknown, and it is known to be fragmentary. It was almost certainly a round seal, appropriate to a high-status layman like Earl John and the seal's equestrian design. SW I, p.40.
