Bernard, bishop of St Davids, Wales (d.1148)

Biography
Fasti Ecclesiae Anglicanae 1066-1300, viii, 64; ix, 45-50: Bernard was from Normandy and was the first Norman bishop of St David’s, Wales. He was previously a royal chaplain, the chancellor of Queen Matilda, and a priest, and perhaps a canon, of Hereford. He also held the custody of the diocese of Hereford in 1101/02. He was elected bishop of St Davids and ordained a priest on 18 September 1115, being consecrated by the archbishop on 19 September at Westminster. He died in 1148, noted as being the thirty-third year of his episcopate.
