Alexander II, pope (d.1073)

Biography
Kelly, Oxford Dictionary of Popes, 152-53: Alexander was born Anselm, to a prominent family of Baggio, near Milan. He was a student at Bec under Lanfranc, being ordained at Milan around 1055. He was named bishop of Lucca in 1057 and elected to the papacy on 30 September 1061. He died on 21 September 1073.
