[COLDINGHAM EXTENT CONTINUED] EDROM. And there is a chief residence, worth yearly 11d and no more, because it is waste. There are one ploughgate and six oxgangs of land in demesne; 10 acres making an oxgang, and the whole land worth per year 20s in the first year, 40s in the second year, 53s 4d in the third year, 66s 8d in the fourth year. There are fourteen acres of meadow, which can be mowed in any year, and which is worth 2s. per acre. The mill is destroyed, which if refurbished, would be worth 40s in the first year. HUSBANDMEN: There are 10 tofts of husbandmen, to whom belong four ploughgates of land, which used to be worth 40s per ploughgate with services, and are now worth 16s per ploughgate. COTTAGES: There are eight cottages, to which belong 12 acres, which used to pay 12d yearly, and now pay 7d in rent. One toft and three acres belong to the brewhouse, which used to render 11s yearly, and now pays ... in rent. William of Swinton holds one toft and one acre of land which used to pay 16d in rent and now pays ... in rent. He also holds a toft and a half ploughgate of land, which used to pay 11s in rent, and now renders ... in rent in the first year, and 8s in the second year, and 8s in the third year. Christiana de Gymelawe holds a toft and an acre, which used to pay 12 yearly with services, and now pays 7d. Eda Thyme [Thin?] holds the same, and used to pay 12d, now paying 7d. Katerina Pople holds the same, and used to pay 12d, now paying 7d. Peter Pople holds two tofts and two acres, which used to pay 2s 8d yearly in rent, now paying 14d. He also holds a toft and two acres and a half, which used to pay 2s 6d in rent, and now pays 3s yearly. William Hyne holds one acre and a half of land, which used to pay 15d, and now pays 7d. Alan of Duns held a toft and an oxgang of land, which used to pay rent to the Hospital of Old Cambus, 13s 4d per year, and is now forfeited, and is in the hand of the Lord Prior, and now pays 2s per year. Sum total in a year 6 pounds, 14s, and 11d.
