Description
Robert, deacon, son of Hugh the clerk of Lanark, has given, granted and by his charter established to the chapel of St Kentigern of Lanark, towards the lighting of the church all the ferme of the land of the church, that is, 3s. annually that Walter the tailor, his brother, holds and possesses of Robert. Robert wishes that whoever shall be rector of the church of Lanark may receive the ferme after his death or Robert will transfer it to the community during his life; Walter shall perform all forinsec and secular [service] for the land and if Walter himself should retain the said ferme or be unwilling to return it, the rector of the church shall be able to dispose of the land without any contradiction.
