Document 2/140/47 (Pais. Reg., 417)

Description
Pope Gregory IX writes to the abbot and convent of Paisley, since it was proposed before him, that some of the clerics and laity frequently and wickedly have managed to summon the abbot to court in remote places, and that with heavy labours and expenses they are made to grant and settle lawsuits to the great detriment of the monastery, thus, he ingulges that the monastery may have more than two ‘dietas’ and within these, the monastery shall not be compelled to answer anyone.
