William, abbot of Newminster, the prior of Tynemouth, and S[imon], prior of Lindisfarne, recite a letter of Pope Innocent [III] appointing them papal judges-delegate, following complaint by the monks of Kelso against the canons of Lanercost concerning the church of Lazonby (Cumbria). The judges have pronounced a settlement in the case between the monks of Kelso and the canon of Lanercost, with the consent of both parties and in the presence of the judges, whereby the prior and convent of Lanercost conceded and confirmed that they would pay yearly to the monks of Kelso for the church of Lazonby 2 bezants of gold at the feast of St James at Roxburgh, when the market is held.
