Peter of Ashby son of William of Ashby has given, granted and established by his charter, by his seal and by the seal and testimony of good men, to Dryburgh Abbey, all hereditary right that his father and he had in the land of 'Inglisberry' (now Grangehall, LAN), and he has quitclaimed the same land and right in perpetuity. He has returned to the canons the charter that his father had, in the presence of Christina, wife of the late William de Moreville at Nenthorn (BWK), in front of these witnesses, namely John de St Clare and William his son and Simon of Nenthorn and many others. The canons returned to him in the presence of Sir William, clerk of Glasgow, 10 marks at Lilliesleaf (ROX), which they had accepted from his father for the aforesaid land, with these witnesses, namely Sir Henry the clerk, William steward of the clerk, Gamel and Ever[ard] of Lessudden (St Boswells), and many others. Moreover, he has granted all this by his mouth in synod at Roxburgh. This was done in the presence of the king’s sheriff of Lanark in front of the king’s baillies.
