Description
An agreement was made to settle the dispute between Bishop Roger and St Andrews Cathedral Priory, on the one hand, and Duncan (II), earl of Fife, on the other, regarding the patronage of the churches of Kilconquhar (FIF) and Kilmany (FIF) and the lands of Kilconquhar and Scoonie (FIF). The bishop, with the assent of his whole chapter, quitclaimed for himself and his successors in perpetuity to the earl and his heirs all right which he had declared himself to have regarding patronage of the church of Kilconquhar and granted and quitclaimed those lands for himself and his successors in perpetuity and confirmed [these] by his charter to the earl and his heirs with all their liberties and rightful appurtenances to be held by him and his heirs in feu and heritage freely [and] quietly from the cathedral priory and the bishop and his successors, doing for the priory and the bishop and his successors the service which the earl and his ancestors did for the priory, the bishop and his predecessors from those lands, namely, a render from Scoonie of seven marks, and from Kilconquhar twenty-eight measures of cheese, eight Scots measures of malt, two Scots measures of barley flour, one ham and one dinmont at Martinmas for all the service, except forinsec service as far as it pertains to those lands and the pleas pertaining by right and custom to the bishop’s court. For that quitclaim, concession and confirmation the earl, with the assent of his heirs, quitclaimed to the priory and bishop……….of thirty-two marks, the patronage of the church of uilt…tel (unidentified) with a toft and a croft and all rightful appurtenances………. and all revenues both in scolocs and in other things in the villa of Kilmany (belonging ?) to the earl and his heirs……a mark’s worth of land from the territory of Kilmany next to [it], as is contained in the charters of the bishop and the earl.
