David of Lyne has given and granted and by this his charter established to Simon son of Robert of 'Scrogges' the land of 'Scrogges' (PEB) [in exchange] for a half ploughgate of land by stated bounds by Hamildean (PEB). Simon will have easements of pasture and building on the land, for an annual render of 12d. on Martinmas. Simon and his men will come to David’s mill. His men will give multure, but Simon’s house will be quit. Simon’s men will come to the works on the mill. He gives this land freely, which his father lost during his life in David's service.
