Description
Mariota of the monks, the late spouse of Nicholas, called the apothecary, in her legitimate power, in pure and perpetual alms, has given, granted and established by the present charter to the abbot and convent of Melrose or whomever their successors may be, all that land lying in ‘Narrowgate’ above the Ness within the villa of Berwick (BWK) with all the buildings constructed in the same land and all the pertinents and everything else as it extends in length and between the land of the abbot of Jedburgh on the one part and the land of Lady Alice of the monks on the other, and all right and claim in that land she has resigned and quitclaimed to the abbot and convent and their successors.
