Description
Nicholas son of Gilbert of Smeaton, for the relief of the land of Smeaton (MLO) which was his father’s, has quitclaimed in perpetuity all the part of the land of Smeaton on the east side of the great road that leads from Inveresk ‘in le Loning’, from the villa of Smeaton to the wood of Carberry, by stated bounds, as it was perambulated in the presence of Richard, terrar of Dunfermline, and of Sir Alan of Swinton and many others, on Friday before the feast of St Peter ad vincula. He gives and quitclaims in pure and perpetual alms.
